🎮 Land Rover Discovery Td5 Common Problems

I had an oil leak on my Td5 back in January after an oil change. Traced it to the cam cover gasket leaking at the back end. There's a "half-moon" seal at the back too which has been known to leak. Left to me those would be the first places to check. There are two versions of the cam cover gasket, one for the 10p engine and the other for the 15p No, likely to be caused by the actuators in the lock mechanism failing usually causing the door to remain locked. The boor door can also fail this way, as do the front side doors. Replacement requires the whole lock unit to be replaced at a cost of roughly £60 a lock, and a hours work. Helps if you have small hands. Ok MD first a little history - Disco II started in late 1998 in TD5 5 cylinder diesel and V8 petrol, both with manual and auto boxes. Next big date is 2002 when the facelift model came out and with it better build quality, although it should be said that all DII's are better built than D1's. Jul 25, 2010. #3. As Dave says, it depends what you want the remap for. Boy racers tend to want extra speed, others want better low end power and torque. Talk to the mapper and say what you want to do, if he can do it, then you are on to a good bloke. If it's just a standard remap, then it's probably a copy file off E bay. 2000 Discover TD5 Auto harsh vibration under power at 2000 -2500. At approx 2000 to 2500 RPM in any gear there is a harsh vibration through the car. Lift off and it goes away. Auto shifts smoothly, engine run well plenty of power. No warning lights on oil levels OK. Years: 1998 - 2007. This WABCO ABS Pump/Module is a very common failing part for the Land Rover Discovery, if your ABS light has come on and you are getting 'Shuttle Valve Switch' fault codes then this ABS Pump/module rebuild is what you need. Other common faults include - ‘ABS Pump' fault code, or 'Inlet/Outlet valve' fault codes. Most cars require the pump being replaced at the same time as the cambelt although this is chain driven, and the average price for water pumps on other cars is £30 ish. But I think over £80 is insane. As it happens I have a tiny amount of coolant being lost somewhere. So figured I might as well chance the lot. TD5's run a completely different cooling system to a standard vehicle. You need to understand how the cooling system works in order to find the fault. A standard vehicle pushes the coolant around the system. As pointed out above, if the thermostat jams closed it will lead to overheating. On a TD5 the waterpump SUCKS the coolant around the system. I hope somebody can help me solving my problem: after tuning my disco td5 (2004) it runs great but: when I am throttling up my enige is going to gallop, and will not easily shift to 2nd or 3rd gear (big black smoke out off the pipe) I have noticed that, when the outside temperture is becomming above 20 degrees, the galopping is becomming less more. TD5 is not OBD compliant for your diagnostic port so you need to spend the money on Nanocom, Hawkeye or lynx to read faults and correct them. 2 visits to a main-stealer will cost the same I expect so get your own. Then you’ll most likely have your codes and then your reason for the problems. Answered by Graham Smith · 4 July 2019. Document the problems with the car and any work that has been done on it since you’ve owned it and take them to JLR with a request that they advise you on what work they plan to do to fix the problems. If that doesn’t get a satisfactory response then go to your state consumer affairs office, or No but it is a very common problem and can cause the symptoms you are describing. Beside the battery (under the same cover) is the ECU, remove the one screw holding it in and pull the ECU out from its location. Pull off the red plug and look to see if there is oil around it. If so best to unplug the ECU completely and leave standing upright so jgqRcEK.
